Compliance

As a (re)insurance broker, AHJ is authorised and regulated by both the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Financial Supervisory Authority of Norway, Finanstilsynet. Alwen Hough Johnson Ltd is authorised and regulated by the FCA, our registration number is 308774 and our registration details can be checked on the register at the FCA’s website, which can be found here.  AHJ Europe AS is authorised and regulated by Finanstilsynet to conduct reinsurance broking, details of our registration can be found here. As Lloyd’s brokers, we are also subject to the regulations and codes of conduct of Lloyd’s, and our entry in the Lloyd’s broker directory can be reviewed here

AHJ is committed to the principles of Treating Customers Fairly and Contract Certainty, and to the monitoring and regular review of our conduct risk.  We operate a zero tolerance policy toward any form of bribery and corruption, believing that insurance business must be conducted in a fair, open and honest market place.

As you would expect, we have procedures in place to identify and report potential financial crime and money laundering, and the fact that insurance and reinsurance represents a relatively low-risk sector for such illegal activities to take place, means that we are aware of the need to be particularly vigilant of any suspicious transactions.

We are members of the London and International Insurance Brokers’ Association (LIIBA), and attend frequent meetings with the regulator and specialist compliance advisors both as part of our membership of LIIBA and in our own capacity as a regulated intermediary.

We are compliant with the FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act) introduced by the United States in July 2014, and a copy of our Alwen Hough Johnson Ltd W-8IMY form can be found here.

We endeavour at all times to try to provide a high quality, professional and reliable service. However, if you are unhappy with the level of service that we have provided, or if you have any complaints, you should in the first instance contact the appropriate divisional director. The director will do their upmost to resolve your complaint to your satisfaction but, if they are unable to do so, you should contact our complaints officer. Complaints with regard to Alwen Hough Johnson Limited should be directed to Charles Bray. Complaints with regard to AHJ Europe AS should be directed to  Rodney Dutton.

Copies of our standard Terms of Business Agreement (TOBA) for clients can be obtained upon request from your usual contact, or a copy of the standard Alwen Hough Johnson Ltd TOBA can be found here and a copy of the standard AHJ Europe AS TOBA can be found here.
