The Special Lines Division, as the name suggests, is a specialist insurance unit focusing on mainly books of business to be placed on the London market via Binding Authority Contracts and Lineslip arrangements. However, Special Lines does also act in the role of Broker on individual risks into the "Open Market" for placement. We also operate, somewhat uniquely, in the role of Underwriting Managers on certain areas of business. We are particularly active in US, Canada and Australia but will review business from any location.
We at Special Lines are driven by the need to sustain profitable business as opposed to purely generating brokerage income.
We have a manifest interest in maintaining long-standing relationships with our markets and accordingly we are conservative in our business ethos. We are always interested in opportunities of new books of business, but only if such represent the potential of producing underwriting profit. Given historical loss records this is not of course an easy task! But we are willing to consider any sensible business proposal on any professional class of business.

US (In-House Underwriting)

We have operated for over eight years an "In-House" underwriting authority. This allows us to underwrite, on behalf of certain Lloyds Underwriters, a portfolio of Miscellaneous Business. We can consider business from over 300 different professions. The emphasis is for small sized professional business outside of the standard professional lines of business.

With many years experience in placing primarily North American open market, line slip and binding authority business in the London Insurance Market, our Special Lines Property team welcome new business opportunities.

Our primary goal in dealing with all clients - whether they be producing agents or insurers - is to provide an excellent service, from production through technical back-up to claims servicing. We have an excellent track record of success in this area.

The majority of our clients have been with us in excess of 10 years and we feel that this further demonstrates our commitment to service.

The International Liability team specialise in the placement of Professional Liability, General Liability, and Medical Malpractice Binding Authorities whilst open market placements can be considered on the above mentioned classes the teams reputation has been founded on Binding Authorities. Territories currently covered are Canada and Australia, but other countries can be considered.
